NGOs once again come together to celebrate Pink October and Movember, two global awareness movements dedicated to promoting health, early detection, and solidarity for those touched by cancer.

This year, NGOs and communities once again come together to celebrate Pink October and Movember, two global awareness movements dedicated to promoting health, early detection, and solidarity for those touched by cancer.
This year’s local campaigns bring together a host of NGOs, private organisations, and volunteers determined to make a difference. If you’re a business looking for opportunities to support worthy causes this month, look no further.

At the heart of the national effort stands The Marigold Foundation, which leads the Pink October Movember Malta campaign. The Foundation coordinates fundraising and awareness events across the islands, supporting initiatives that focus on breast, ovarian, cervical, prostate, and testicular cancers. This year’s most anticipated event will happen on 12 October 2025 with the Pink October /Movember Bike Ride organised by The Marigold Foundation. Cyclists of all levels will take part in a morning ride to promote cancer awareness and raise funds for ongoing health campaigns

Several other NGOs are once again playing leading roles in the 2025 campaign:

  • Europa Donna Malta - The local branch of the European Breast Cancer Coalition continues to champion education, awareness, and advocacy, including a series of pop-up events and talks.
  • Action for Breast Cancer Foundation - ABCF focuses on direct support for patients and survivors, organising fundraising activities and collaborating with corporate sponsors.
  • Hospice Malta - Known for its compassionate palliative care, Hospice Malta frequently collaborates with corporate partners to raise awareness and encourage donations for PinkOctober. You can purchase their signature cupcakes at this link.

The spirit behind Pink October and Movember extends far beyond fundraising. It’s about breaking taboos, encouraging people to talk openly about health, and reminding everyone (men and women alike) to get checked early and seek support when needed.

From the busy streets of Valletta to the quiet corners of Gozo, Malta’s NGOs are proving that when it comes to fighting cancer, awareness truly saves lives.
