Human rights and advocacy
Aditus Foundation is a non-governmental organisation with a mission to monitor, report and act on access to human rights in Malta. Their work promotes a society where all persons are able to access and enjoy all their fundamental human rights, and access justice and remedies in case of violations.
Aditus was founded on the principles of the universality, interdependence and indivisibility of all fundamental human rights. Being a generic human rights NGO, they work to adopt a broad perspective for human rights in Malta, identifying themes such as discrimination and access to effective remedies.
Their main activities include the identification of priority areas, formulating advocacy strategies and working towards improvement in legal and administrative standards. This includes offering pro bono legal information and advice. They focus primarily on the government of Malta whilst also addressing the EU institutions, the UN, the Council of Europe and other relevant agencies.
Support human rights and advocacy work
The work of Aditus mainly consists of advocacy, research & pro bono legal services, therefore financial support will assist them with paying salaries for the 4 lawyers in their office, paying for court expenses in cases of impact/strategic litigation, paying of interpreters, office rent and offices expenses. In kind support could also consist of provision of office space/meeting room space and/or office provisions.
