Msida Mosaic Movement
Mosaics unifies human relations across dialogue, collaboration and hands on practice where citizens creative expression will be exposed in a community spirit. This will symbolize the citizen’s well-being and reach out for recyclable materials to achieve sustainability in the environment.
The monumental mosaic project highlights perspectives and cooperation between Msida Local Council, local communities and the artistic team. The aim is to recycle collectable items such as chinaware, terracotta, glass, tiles and mirrors. The concept of self will be developed through an immersion of ideas in terms of design and creation in a social cohesive setting. Through the mosaic art medium, the artistic team will nurture a social and cultural interaction with the members. The citizen’s identity will be matched with distinctive features to symbolize their contribution to the community in a collective art form on site specific in Msida.
The purpose is to create an awareness among the cohort to address the recycling services with the concept to embellish the open spaces in terms of a mosaic artwork. This will add value to the locality across the cultural sphere. It will stand tall for years and generations to come to inform the citizens what legacies the colonies have left behind for Malta’s tourism.
