RMJ Horse Rescue
Rehabilitating and rehoming horses
RMJ Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation has 4 main missions:
- To maintain all the horses in our care, many of which have special needs. Today RMJ is home to over 80 horses.
- To rehome as many of these horses as possible; some locally but mostly abroad broad. On average we send to the UK approx. 9 horses a month as part of our Project Back to the Green (PBG)
- To make more room for more horses which means building more stables – the more space we have the more horses we can take in.
- To raise awareness and give something back
Their vision is to eventually ensure that all horses on this island are safeguarded even once they are no longer serving their original purpose.
There are multiple ways in which you can support RMJ Horse Rescue. Find out more here.
RMJ Horse Rescue were also a Changemakers finalist where they pitched their initiative Development of Equine Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre. This involves upgrading the current facilities at RMJ Horse Rescue by replacing neglected and run-down structures with new stables. New stables would allow RMJ to take in more horses, provide adequate shelter for their horses, generate more funds needed to be able to sustain the horses, as well as collaborate with others and hence give back to society by offering their premises for a variety of activities.
