Mark Weingard, Founder of Iniala and Inspirasia Foundation and President of the Academy of Givers, has poured every ounce of his being into creating his passion projects. Completely self-made, Weingard was an only child growing up in Manchester, England, who later achieved success as a young professional trading stocks. Years later, a series of unfortunate events brought him to create the beautiful concepts of Inspirasia and Iniala.
In 2002 a terrorist attack in Bali tragically claimed the life of his fiancée, Annika Linden. Devasted by his loss but determined to create something positive out of this tragic event, he set up Inspirasia Foundation which has grown into a leading grant-making foundation that has given over 12 million Euros towards social impact. He also founded and built the Annika Linden Centre in Bali, a world-class incubator for impact and disability centre for marginalised communities.
In 2012, Mark became captivated by Malta’s charm and relocated to the island, and in 2020, he opened the luxury hotel, Iniala Harbour House & Residences. Committed to philanthropy and giving back to the communities he finds himself in, through Inspirasia Foundation, Mark launched a number of ventures in Malta over the years, including the Malta Social Impact Awards, which awarded over Eur400,000 to social initiatives; Malta Together, which brought the community together to support one another and local voluntary organisations during the outbreak of COVID-19 in Malta; and, most recently, Changemakers, Malta’s first social impact TV show.
